I am a Boston-based ceramic artist working primarily in white stoneware. My work celebrates the elegant beauty and functionality of wheel thrown pieces, and the practically unlimited aesthetic possibilities of hand built pieces. I am particularly drawn to colors relating to ocean and sky. I also enjoy textural juxtapositions that accentuate cracks and seams, rather than attempting to hide them. A new technique I’ve been working on lately is joining strips of clay to paint a picture, much like a quilt or a tapestry, and shaping this canvas into a functional piece of art.
